i have a numax leisure battery in my car. As summer approaches, i'm looking at using it to power 'things' when camping and the like. Sooo i'd like to know what the numbers on it mean.

It says 1000 MCA. Which i beleive is Marine Cranking Amps, meaning it can deliver 1000 amps for 30 seconds at 32 deg f. But it has no Ah rating on. Instead it has 155 min RC.

What is min RC. What does it mean, and how does it convert to Ah. From mooching round the net i think it equates to about 86 Ah. But am not sure. I want to know what it means and why it is used!

I think its reserve capacity and usually stated in minutes.

It's the time the battery can supply a current of 25A for until the voltage drops beneath a specified figure which I cant remember!

It basically states that the battery you have will supply 25A at an useable voltage for 155 min.

I have no idea how to convert it to Ah

Does the rough calculation of (155/60)*25 = 64Ah make any sense?

A literal conversion would be as above ( i.e. (RC * 25) / 60 = 64Ah ) but in practice the capacity of a battery depends on it's discharge rate, so you can't really do a direct conversion.

An Ah rating on a car battery is usually a 20 hour rating, e.g. a 100 Ah battery could deliver 5 Amps for 20 hours, but almost certainly could not deliver 100 Amps for 1 hour.
