What Do TLAD and BoGT Bring to GTA That IV Didn't?

Right, I'm playing through the GTA IV story again, and will in a little while find myself empty and longing for more action.

I liked GTA IV the first time round, but was disappointed with the fact it didn't really bring much to the genre apart from fine visuals. I was sad that it didn't offer so much as GTA SA in terms of OTT action, masses of space and vehicles.

Do either of the episodes bring these things (obviously the maps are the same size)? Did you find them more fun than IV? Are they both full games, i.e. of a similar length to IV?

I played SR1 & 2 after completing GTA IV, and enjoyed them both massively (although I preferred 2 over 1). This was probably due to the madcap action that they invovled.

So what I'm basically asking is this - Are the episodes better than IV? Are they more interesting, and are they more like the GTA of old with less realism and more OTTness than IV?

Cheers.

Without delving much into the story, it is more like the old GTA games in terms of humor, OTT action and good gameplay, but again it's nothing like the old versions.

I certainly enjoyed episodes a lot more than GTAIV and I thought GTAIV was the best of the franchise.

The episodes aren't as long or as good as IV, but that's due to their length, so you don't build up the same relationship you do with the other two as you do with Niko.

TLAD isn't really too much different that IV. Just new weapons, a cope of vehicles and obviously new missions. However, TBoGT adds a lot more features like sky diving, weapons, vehicles, mini games and improves the visuals somewhat (view distance and some shadows). It makes the game feel more like San Andreas. It's more fun I guess, what with the crazy weapons and tank, but I still prefer the original game.

Okay, cheers for your opinions. I'll probably finish IV again, and look to pick up episodes when I'm done.

I guessed that TLAD and BoGT would be shorter, and I like a nice long storyline, but I'll give them a shot anyway.

Definitely worth getting. I really love the two, but they don't touch the original story, but hey not much does :)

I personally think it was released at the wrong time what with MW2 and Forza within the same couple of weeks, i've not touched my copy of TLAD and TBOGT, and i love the franchise too. I just can't see myself playing yet though.

TLaD and BoGT together probably equal GTAIV in terms of length.

As for gameplay, TLaD is bit more serious and darker. BoGT is more light hearted and with more of the old OTT stuff (Parachuting, jumping out of planes and off of bridges, storming the roof of a moving train, etc...)

I'm enjoying TLAD a lot more with the gritty noise effect in display turned off. The bike races are a lot of fun combined with the Get Good Wood achievement.

Geez this just reminded me that i havent even bothered playing the first DLC or finishing it and ive downloaded the second DLC....must get round to actually playing the both of them at some point.

LATD was good, but didn't improve as much as you'd hope and did feel a bit dark and repetitive, it was good, but not as good/what I'd hoped for, played BoGT for a few hours and it felt more lively, upbeat and fun, and realy didn't play it again onlly cause fo Forza 3 and MW2, I'll defeinitely go back to it over christmas and give it a good going over, as I have faith in it :D Sky diving needs to be done by me, too! :)
