What do u think of this spec?

Flibby's spec is a point to consider, but I'd probably put a 4870 in it, then put a 4870X2 in it at a later date

It would nice, alternatively he could just get the 4850 - then get a crossfire Nehalem board and buy another 4850 - which at that time will cost £50 or something I'd imagine Cheaper route, but Crossfire is... well, not amazing when it comes to support.

Very tempting flibby I really like the looks of that system id have to use something else instead of the powercolor though as its on pre order, stik in the HIS instead.

Apart from that I guess the rest is adequate/best bang for buck?

Yeah pretty much. You could get a micro ATX board which is very good, I use one on my secondary PC and also can game on that just fine, but they are the same price as that full sized ATX Gigabyte board I've listed so the only benefit of the MATX one is that it's got built in video - which allows you to make it into a HTPC or something like a web browsing machine for a family member when you upgrade again without the need of a seperate video card.

The CPU is a quality CPU even if it's not 45nm - it overclocks very well, it's very good with games and Windows in general and it's nice and cool and definitely excellent in the price : performance department.

The PSU/graphics would be carried over and they are superb options (obviously a different branded graphics since they are out of stock of PowerColor and for some reasons listed in above posts).

The RAM is great - I use it myself in my main gaming rig, and it'll do until you upgrade again.

ahh true, nice 1. guess theres no point in getting a 3rd party cpu cooler if i mite upgrade it next year. apart from that it looks pretty neat, just gonna do a few checks and hopefully order it tonite sometime thx for all ** help flibby, rly appreciated and saved me some money.

I wouldn't bother with the aftermarket cooler, stock one is good enough unless you are planning some large overclocking, and happy to help

Just another idea, would my current PSU be good enough?

It's a Tagan 480W, TG480-U01 ATX 2.

It does have the pci express connectors.
