I intend to shortly buy a Premium 360 pack and an extra controller. If I've heard right they have rechargable batteries. As standard, are these AAs or the like or are they the same packs you get with the play and charge. If so, whats the point of the play and charge kit?

Thanks.

They come with normal AA batteries. You'll need either another battery pack (£10) or some rechargable batteries + charger :)

Your choice :)

Normal AA? Ouch. I take it they drain pretty fast?

I might go for one play and charge kit and one quick charge kit, so two rechargable batteries, with a cable for emergencies.

Isnt that overkill? Just play with the play and charge kit when the battery pack gets low, or leave the pad charging when the console is off.

Hmm the info I was given must be wrong. I was told the console had to be on (as in powered up and running) to charge the controller. I thought that sounded mad.

With the play and charge kit, you can charge the battery pack whilst you play (hence the name) or you can turn the console off and it will still keep charging.

The 360 doesn’t 'fully' turn off, it sort of goes into standby while the pad charges. The fans keep spinning etc, but it will turn itself off completely once the pad is charged.

Remember it can also be charged off your PC's USB sockets as well, so you don’t necessarily have to have a wire running out of your 360, which some find unsightly.

I suppose the quick charge kit is a bit neater, but it means alternating between 2 battery packs, or taking your battery pack out to charge it.

Most stuff already been talked about, but to sum up, you choices are:

If you just buy a 360 Premium + Extra pad, you will basically have 2 pads, each with 2 standard AA batteries in them.

What you can do from there is:

Buy a monster pack of cheap AA batteries

-OR-

Buy some rechargable AA batteries, and a normal battery charger

-OR-

Buy a Single Play + Charge kit, which comes with 1 Rechargable pad battery, and then buy a single official rechargable pad battery. (The downside to this is that if you run out of charge on both pads the same time, you have to wait).

-OR-

Buy the Official XBox360 Quick Charge Kit, which is a docking station for charging the official rechargable pad batteries. This comes with a rechargable battery, so again, you'll need to buy another.

If they were out at the time..I would have brought a quick charge kit with an extra battery pack over my charge and play...

(But thats because i hate having wires everywhere..)

Wired pad TBQFH.

I only sit about 3 foot from my gaming telly.

Me 2 but either the dog running infront tripping on the cables or the guinea pig trying to eat the cables, it becomes quite a paid :D

Yeah, the balance of the pad is better too although that could just be ms's design. Biggest thing for me i i wear skater-type trainers with big padded tongues.

Almost every console ive had the cables have caught under them while ive been playing (cables have a mind of their own dont they!) and thus as ive jumped up to get the phone i have sent many consoles flying across the room. I would not want that happening with the 360.
