What do you do with your old systems?

I have an old system which still works fine, I did strip out the storage apart form a 240gb SSD and I sold the graphics cards but I don't know what to do with it since I heard full systems don't really sell.

The specs are as following:

Corsair Graphite 780T Full Tower
Intel i7-5960X
ASUS X99 DELUXE: ATX, HSW-E
32GB KINGSTON HYPER-X PREDATOR QUAD-DDR4 3000MHz (4 x 8GB)
Corsair 1500W 80 PLUS TITANIUM AX1500i DIGITAL MODULAR PSU
Corsair H80i Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler
240GB Kingston HYPERX 3K SSD,
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
NZXT Sentry 3 Fan Controller

Few things you could do :)

Either sell it as a bundle or parts before it depreciates any further...

Re-purpose it for a family member?

Or re-use it for yourself as a home/media server? I use an old work desktop as a home server and have it do a few things; Plex, CCTV, VMs, PiHole DNS, Network storage for my PC/mobiles, Cloud Backup important photos and documents etc...

Hand-me-down, i usually pass stuff along unless i'm picking it apart for spares (spares are handy when troubleshooting).

That's a pretty beast spare, i'm sure you could make a relation super happy with a pc bump.

I turn them into servers if they've still got some poke.

Something like the spec above would make a very capable virtualisation box and or NAS

I normally recycle/give away anything that's not worth it's energy cost (old xeons and their motherboards + ram typically)

The spec posted is modern enough that the PSU and RAM are worth a few quid - case could be worth selling as well if in good condition.

I usually keep at least one backup system, other parts tend to go to friends and family though less so these days as people tend to buy whole new systems and/or laptops, etc. more now.

Anything more than about 1 generation old tends to get chucked, occasionally sold, but usually chucked except some bits which were special in their day that I keep for nostalgia reasons.

There's a system of hand me downs in my house. Anything relegated from my rig goes into my daughter's PC. Anything too slow for that ends up in the media centre under the telly.

Any parts that don't have a place in any of the three systems and still have some value go on the MM or the bay.

All that old x99 stuff is still worth decent money. I'm sure a bucnh of people on here would still be interested in the 5960x at the right price. People like me on 5820k.
