I'm interested in finding out if users here use a PC or a MAC based system for photo editing and if so, whats the configuration of either type of machine (or both!?)

Personally I was considering the move to an iMac 27 inch when they are refreshed but I'd have to spend a daft amount of money to get one which is vastly faster than my current setup -.-

Also, would be interesting to see what software you guys use.

I'll start the ball rolling:

Code:
[B][COLOR="Red"]Mac/PC[/COLOR][/B] = Macbook Air 2011 13inch
[COLOR="red"][B]Hard Drive space[/B][/COLOR] = 128gb SSD + 2x 1tb external hdds
[COLOR="red"][B]RAM[/B][/COLOR] = 4gb DDR3
[B][COLOR="red"]Screen res[/COLOR][/B] = 1440x900
[B][COLOR="red"]Software[/COLOR][/B] = Aperture 3 and Canon DPP

Windows 7
Intel i7 2.6GHz
8gb mem
Various HDs but no SSDs.
Asus 1200X1920. 24" Asus IPS monitor.

Lightroom, gimp

Macbook Air (2011)
128GB SSD (although I am looking at options to upgrade this - running short of space)
4GB RAM
1440x900
Lightroom 3 (will probably buy 4 next month after payday)

I believe Lightroom 4 allows an install on a laptop and a desktop simultaneously, so I could also edit on my desktop

Windows 7
Q6600
4GB RAM
320GB + 750GB spinning rust
24" 1920x1200

I use a Windows 7 PC, SSD for boot/scratch disks plus 3TB of storage.
16GB RAM, and I do my editing on a 24", 1920x1200 screen.

For software, I use Lightroom mainly, with a bit of Photoshop for the more advanced adjustments.

PC
Mains specs in sig
Windows 7 64Bit
4Gb Scratch disk in Photoshop CS5 is run off a ram drive for more advanced tweaking
Lightroom 3 sees most of the action though :)

Using Aperture on an iMac 27" (2560x1440 screen res, i5 750, 8gb RAM, ATI4850). I love the screen size though could do with an SSD to speed things up a bit.

Alpherah, do you also feel like you need to speed up your iMac for photos?
