What do you get when you mix...

I'd guess at brown if you are talking about mixing paint because that is the way most colour mixes went when I was in primary school.

In theory red and blue make purple if memory serves so adding yellow may lighten it?

i've always thought of it more like Emerald green and Regal Purple.

Oh well, Each to his own.
 
Gold is basically like yellow and BRY makes brown :p I'm assuming you meant additive mixing.

Anyone noticed how at school we got taught that the primary colours are red, green, yellow but in reality they are red, green, blue :D

Gold isnt basically yellow. Gold is metallic and its pigment isnt very strong. Depending on quantities of mix he will most probably end up with a metallic purple of sorts.

No, we were told red blue yellow. You had a crappy teacher :p, how the **** did you make blue? ;)
