hi just looking some opinions on upgrading my z68 motherboard and 2600k to a 4790k and z97 mother board

now i normally wouldnt think of doing this but i think i might be able to do the upgrade for as little as £150 after the i sell my motherboard and cpu. i would be buying a second hand cpu and a refurbished motherboard so all in all i think it might only cost around the 150 mark.

the reason im think about it is because im running out of sata 6gbs port and the extra ports on the z97 would come in handy plus the z97 look a lot nicer than the old z68 boards.

it just wouldnt make sense to me to buy new parts as i think i will be upgrading again when ever sky lake comes.

so what do yous think on a cheap upgrade to cure the upgrade itch?

I take it you (mainly) game/torrent right? Your set up with G-Sync probably removes any perceivable issues that would normally warrant an upgrade. So for a off the cuff question do you use headphones and are they any good? If you do and they are not, spend your money there for the time being.

I've got Pretty hi end headphone speaker and amp.
Monitor audio rx6 speakers sennheiser hd650 headphones and a marantz ki pearl lite amp.

I'm going to upgrade a few thing in my pc anyway lm going to get 2 1tb ssd's maybe another 980 or else a titan X and a new case

Just thought it might be worth it for around 150

Funny thing is I have a g1 sniper z87, that is stuck in my old case (HAF-X), as I have demolished one of the mounting screws heads. so I gave up and got another Mobo

Its been sat there for the best part of a year now at my dad's house in the spare room. I have been debating just giving the case to the tat man with mobo inside........
