So my CPU died a few weeks back and I finally got round to sourcing some parts for a new system. Just going to list the 'core' components:

Ryzen 7 1700
Asus Prime A320M-K
16GB Corsair vengeance DDR4 2133mhz
8GB Radeon RX 580 8GB
250GB SSD
1TB HD

All of this plus case and all the other necessities are going to set me back around £1150. I've budgeted myself where possible, specifically with the mobo and drives. My question... was this the right thing to do? The mobo is pretty cheap and whilst I have no desire to use multiple cards at any point, I'm worried that buying this particular board is going to be a bit of a detriment to all the other, more expensive components in the build.

I'm pretty set on everything else and to be quite honest, I don't want to be spending more then this. But if I have to...

I am sure someone will point you in the right direction but they will probably need to know what the purpose of the build? Is it gaming?
If it's gaming then Ryzen 1700 might be an overkill.

You only looking at spending 20GBP more for a B350 motherboard which on such budget I would probably consider for better features.

You will also want at least 3000MHz RAM instead of the 2133 as Ryzen loves fast RAM.

But as I said, I am sure someone will come along with a good build for you :)

Ahh your right... stating it's primary purpose will probably help with answers xD

It will indeed be used primarily for gaming, but I also do a little video editing for work every now and again.

You can't overclock on the A320 chipset. That board also has no VRM heatsinks.

For your usage I would go with the R5 1600 and a B350 board. This way you can overclock (Even on the stock cooler). The R5 1600 performs more or less the same as the R7 when gaming. For occasional video editing the 6 core R5 1600 will still be good.

Also as mentioned above you want faster Ram.

Something like this is what I would do:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £432.42
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Forgot to ask...what case do you have ? As the Asus B350-F board is ATX size.

Cheers pal! Will think on your advise and most likely switch up my CPU and MoBo as it actually works out a little cheaper. Might give the better RAM a shot too!

The case I'll be using is a Game Max Falcon so shouldn't have any problems fitting everything :)

Starting to bulid my new new pc as my old one sadly is dying :(
So after much decision i am decided to buy the following

Carbide 400c Midi Tower Gaming Case
MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon AM4 Socket
AMD Ryzen 7 Eight Core 1800x
Corsair RGB 16GB DDr4 2666MHz
960 EVO Polaris 250GB M.2
MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Armor 8GB
Corsair H60 V2 High Performance
HX750i 750W '80 Plus Platinum Digital Modular Power Supply (CP-9020072-UK)

Love buliding a new pc :)

GTX1080 Armor ain't a bad card, got one myself :)

When you istall it though, recommend setting your own fan curve, as mine was heating to 80 degrees. With custom fan curve its 65 under load and not much noisier overall.

Probably as most of them GTX cards it does start to sag if not supported, it doesnt have a backplate either (if that would help, i dont know)

You already bought those parts ?

i have bought the mobo, case, psu and h60 v2 so far

I would go for the R7 1700 over the R7 1800X. Just overclock it and save some money. Get some faster ram as well (3000MHz or above) as Ryzen likes faster ram.

Shame you already bought the cooler as 120mm AIO's are not really that good when it comes to price/performance. A good budget air cooler would perform about the same for less cash.

I would go for R7 1700 but i have no idea on what i am doing when it comes to overclocking. I will have a look at the RAM price for 3000MHZ or above and possibly consider it.
Thanks for the Help
