I like to listen to a few things, depends what I am doing. Quite often I find myself listening to some AC/DC, especially Highway To Hell and the Live albums.
I have a few songs which I use for the last 2 minutes on the treadmill (up the speed to 19km/h) which get my adreneline going. Always listen to one of:
Feeder - Just a day
Green day - No pride
Zebrahead - Postcards from hell
Blink 182 - Don't tell me that its over
Alkaline Trio - Armageddon (only when the guy starts shouting towards the end)
All of these have a fast beat and they get me going, I wouldn't be able to last the two minutes without them (after 10-15mins of jogging at 12-14km/h)
Whatever is playing on the gyms stereo so I normally end up listening to the radio which would be fine apart from the fact that it tends to cut out as soon as anyone walks near it.
I listen to a lot of spoken-word stuff and books on tape. If I'm doing cardio stuff I find it helps as I'm sometimes following the story and not staring at the timer trying to beat a time.
Something dancey for running (one of my aerobics cds usually), something with a harder beat for weights (N*E*R*D, Beastie Boys, QOTSA) and one of my chillout cds for flexibility sessions.
for weights i use rock/metal music, linkin park, system of a down, marilyn manson. cardio (when i boher to do it lol..) i usually get the latest dance compilation and listen to that.
