What sort of things do you need to learn to make websites? Is it HTML and stuff? Like if you wanted to design websites for people? (not for me btw, for something interested in doing it)

I'd begin by downloading Notepad++ and having either the Gimp, Photoshop or Fireworks, a decent graphics programme to hand.

Then I'd follow the tutorials on www.htmldog.com to gain a bit of knowledge on HTML and CSS, and just having a play with what you've learnt, then move onto www.cssplay.co.uk to learn/discover about how menus and layouts are produced. If you're still up for reading; www.alistapart.com is a great resource.

Also, one thing to make not of is, don't go in blind! Just looking on the internet at resources and showcases, such as www.cssremix.com are all great inspirations to current web design. If you want to take things into more of a programmer environment then PHP is a nice one to learn. :)

As above and then once your comfortable with html move on to vb.net to make dynamic webites.

even if you don't want to make e-commerce sites, e-commerce sites contain everything you should need.
