We have been starved of Sky sports and broadband for 3 years and have signed for another apartment today where its available.

Calling Sky, they couldn't give me a price because he told me it varied based on the current details and said to ring back when I have the property address.

How much is:

Standard Sky TV
Sky Sports
Sky Broadband Fibre unlimited & unlimited pro (38mb / 76mb from understanding)
Sky phone line required for broadband

Should we look at Virgin media or other companies? - We have had NTL and Virgin media in the past and both were nothing on Sky

Sky, Have everything bar Sports.

Family package
HD package
Movies
3D
Sky Go Extra
Multiroom
Fibre Unlimited
Talk Weekends.

£64 p/m for a year, could have had Sky Sports for an extra £1 a month but I never watch it.

£65 for everything sounds pretty good! Does that include the landline?

Hit me up with a trust message Guest2 and I will sort you out.

Done. Thanks

I've just spent 30 minutes on the phone to someone working at Sky

He quoted me £86.65 for the following;

Sky + Sky Sports
Standard broadband unlimited
phone line but no calls

Then went away for a couple of minutes and came back with £61.65 including Sky HD and F1 channel.

To add Fibre pro unlimited it would be a £50 installation fee take it to £87.40 a month (including the above)

I pay, I mean 'my friend' pays, £25 a year for the full package (including all the adult channels).

Hint....look up card sharing (cccam) on Google ;)

Looks like some dodgy Ugandan site. and its €80 for the year.

Does it include a phone line or Fibre broadband? No idea why people get these services. If you want to go the dodgy route, just get fast internet and the many sites you can stream free movies and sports channels. They are usually rubbish though, we went to watch a boxing match at a mates years ago and it cut out half way through

Thanks Alan :)

Daft question. Do you need a phone line for cable (fibre) internet? On here it says not but then looking at Sky Fibre standard that's on half price for 6 months you do need a phone line

Is BT Infinity 2 Unlimited 76mb worth £40 a month (inc phone line) over Sky standard? The thing is we only have a 12 month house contract so may not even be there 18 months, in which case we would have to pay off the contract I guess

I think it terrible they treat existing customers so badly (especially 14 years!) but the offer everything on a plate to new customers.

How about keeping the old ones instead of getting new? This was one of the reasons I left Sky (twice)

Are well, im a new customer again now!

Edit - https://hyperoptic.com anyone heard of hyperoptic 1Gb fibre?! Its available to me and works out to be not much more than sky fibre pro or bt infinity 2. But is more than 10 times quicker!

Nope but have now registered even though it's not available to me, thanks for the link.

I dont even know what I would do with 1gb internet! I generally just browse so its probably pointless!

There is the odd occasion I download a game on steam or watch a film but that's it. With 1Gb internet you could stream 4k!

I might just get Sky TV package with friend and family discount (again ta Alan) and standard free broadband. I can never really see myself even needing 38mb so why 1Gb interests me I have no idea.

Download an HD film in about 5 seconds, great. But then I don't have 2 or 3 hours to watch it!

Its one thing having 76Mbps, maybe an average download speed of 8-9MB/s. Completely another having 1Gbps, averaging maybe 100MB/s!

At these speeds disk speed (and obviously disk space) start to play a bigger part if you are downloading gigabytes of data.

TV seems to be sorted with Sky friends and family complete package for £25/month.

Internet I am still thinking. Just get the standard naff free broadband which will be ok for £16/month (phoneline cost) or go BT/Sky/Hyperoptic fibre. (No virgin media in the area)

I have read the thread and asked some questions which I could not see answeres too.

These are the prices from what I can see

Hyperoptic
1Gb £44.5
100mb £26.50
20mb £16

Sky 76Mb £46.40
BT 76Mb £43

The Hyperoptic 100Mb works out at £26.50 a month which is quite nice

What ADSL speed were you quoted?

By the Sky rep? He didn't say, just that standard broadband was free with the phone line

Should I check? edit, there seem to be plenty of checkers but I am not sure of the current landline number (as have not moved in yet)

I may have overlooked something.

Do you also need a Sky landline for £16.40 a month just for TV? It looks like I can continue with the order for TV package without one

It also says;

'Sky TV prices will change on 1 June'
'Hurry - offer ends 25 June'

edit - I used the Sky online chat and a rep confirmed a phone line is not required. Just said to select 'I have ordered one already'
Regarding the friends and family complete bundle expiry, is this 25th June or 1st June? On the email it says 1st June but on the website it says 1st June. The rep asked to take my offer code to check this but did not provide it (the email with offer code says 25th June) Just need to confirm because we do not move into our property until 4th July so there's no point ordered until late June - Same with broadband / Fibre

Cool, cheers for confirming. I have just ordered with setup and contract running from the date we move in.

I must say, I lot better experience than I had when ordering Sky a few years ago
