What do you pay for your broadband?

The internet is horribly expensive in India (pretty much the only thing that is)

It is important to note that MOST packages in India have a data cap :mad:and once that cap is achieved your connection goes to a paltry 0.5 mbps connection in most cases.

I have three connections in my property :

1)50 Mb up and down - Data cap is 30GB a day before it drops to 10mbps. Cost is around £50 a month

2)4mb up and down. Unlimited. £20 a month. We use this exclusively for our phones and tablets

3)30 mb leased line. £160 a month :mad::mad::mad:

Why the leased line if I have decent fibre 50mb connection? Customer service in India is horrible, you think VM and BT are bad? Crikey these guys are like John Lewis compared to anything in India. At least with a leased line (and I need it for work) I get a quick response.

My 2 x non leased lines are simply not as reliable as my leased line. Constant drop outs etc.

had an email from BT today offering me a deal, im 5 months into a 12 month contract with them at £6.85pm, (non fibre upto 8mb DL 1mb UL)
the offer is to sign a new 12 month contract by the 2nd of July and they'l reduce my BB bill to £5 a month

actually, i think what BT are doing here is trying to trick me into being a long term customer of theirs...

atm my BT BB and pre-paid line rental start and end at the same time,
by making me sign a new 12 month BB contract now il be out of sync

Relatively happy with my Sky deals. :)

Sky TV Family - £14.40 (60% off?)
Sky Fibre Pro - £20 (£10 off)
Sky Line Rental - £8.70 (50% off?)

Recently upgraded to fibre and paying roughly £15 a month for fibre plus line rental which is about £16 ish normally however, ours is through Utility Warehouse so we get a big discount on stuff since we have everything with them. I will be able to find out fully next month once the bill is issued.

Stoner81.

PS - Getting 80/20 unlimited.

Currently paying £19.75 a month with EE for broadband and landline. Just had email last week saying they are putting it up by £1.65 a month from 1st June.

£50/month for 1Gb up/down, actually usually get up to 850Mb.
Broadband only, I've no need for a landline phone.
No caps.

New customers now though can get it for £44/month. I'm still within 12 month contract period.

Hyperoptic

I think it costs about £18 or thereabouts, excluding line rental. Wish I had the option of paying more for a faster connection, I get less speed than 10 years ago when living elsewhere. Would pay £50-100/month for a decent connection (back in the day, I paid £58/month for a 2mbit ADSL line when they first came out, and prior to unmetered dialup even more than that on phone bills).

Sounds similar to me, my last phone bill for internet charges was £240 for the month at 1p/minute. The next month the unmetered dial up package came out.

The most I've spent on the fastest broadband speed was I think £50 when 2 or 4Mb came out from Telewest (now Virgin), and since always paid that much or £47 for speeds as they progressed to 100Mb. Then I moved address where Virgin wasn't at, downgraded to 76Mb, then 2 years later Hyperoptic came with their big 12 incher with 1Gb of raw power lol

Just had to renew with Plusnet to avoid charges for moving home. They offered either 18 months at the standard price or 24 months at £17/mo. I went with the latter; it means line rental saver will be more in line with my contract anyway.

This is for the 80/20 Mb/s package by the way.

Sky Fibre Unlimited (40/10) = £20.00
Sky Talk Line Rental = £17.40
Sky Voicemail = £1.25

Total = £38.65

I have just agreed a £10 discount with Sky on the line rental for the next 12 months.

Just did this too. Phoned up saying that I could get faster with BT, they knocked £10/month off my bill so now I'm paying £27.40/month for the line rental + 40/10 unlimited broadband.

BT Infinity 3 200mps £42.40
BT TV UHD £13
Unlimited Calls £7.95
Line Rental paid in advance @ £200 a year roughly
So about £80 a month

Its expensive and an 18 month deal but I did get £111 cashback and the TV hardware for free and the alternative is ADSL & Sky or Freeview as I can't get Virgin or FTTC.

Taking into account the £140 Quidco cashback & £100 prepaid debit card that we got for signing up, technically we're only paying £16.19 a month for 38/10, line rental and BT Vision :)
