It will also have my old Athlon 64 +3000 and my 1 Gig of GEIL Value Ram. It´s only for office, internet, some music and no much more. No games at all. Its for my fiancee´s mum.

Have I forgot anything?

Do you think it will be better to get a Dell computer for her?

Cheers

I hate to say so but yeah, then DELL will be the technical support. Don't know if you've made the mistake of building for friends and family before but take it from me. It's not worth the hassle! ;)

Just give her that, especially if you're 3000 and RAM are being replaced anyway. Dell are just plain /Shoddy.

:Edit: Mainly because they use Intel. Why oh why oh why. :Edit:

well, the thing is I could upgrade my computer a little bit and sell her my components at a fair price (for me!) :) .

But as Kondorski says I don´t know if its worth the hassle ...

That will all work fine(I'm making the assumption that your A64 3000 is socket 939) and would be quite a decent system should she ever feel the need to upgrade.

Having said that however a pre-built system does remove the onus of after-care from you somewhat(although you will still get called), you could take a look at the OcUK full systems as also in some cases pre-built is cheaper than custom builds at the low end.

In the website there is this barebone, but apparently it can´t use Sempron 64 although OCUk sells some of these with Sempron CPUs, anyone knows if they are really sempron 64 compatible?

Asus Vintage AE1 Barebones System - AMD Socket 754 (FS-024-AS)
The ASUS Vintage can be turned into an ultimate super multifunctional PC by simply utilizing the great expansions offered.

- AMD Sempron/Athlon 64 (64 bit) up to 3700+
- Socket 754
- North Bridge: SIS 760GX
- South Bridge: SIS 965L
- PC2100/PC 2700/PC 3200
- 2 x DDR400 DIMM
- 2 x PCI
- 1 x AGP 8X
- 1 x PCI-e
- SiS 760GX Mirage2 Graphics Integrated
- 2 x UltraDMA 133/100/66
- 2 x SATA
- 10/100 Mbps
- 6 Channel Codec
- 170 x 385 x 355
- Not Compatible with Sempron 64

From the Asus website it doesn't specifically say if it will work with Sempron 64s or not, it says it may need a bios upgrade for 64bit CPUs and that it will work with A64s but no more than that. I'd be inclined to take OcUKs word on this as presumably they have included that line specifically because people have complained about incompatability as normally the descriptions seem to be lifted more or less verbatim from the manufacturers website.

I do love some of the descriptions though, a key feature is
Harmonic Affordability
which means precisely what? ;)
