What do you think? (build thread)

No I'm not Ati cannot keep up with nvidia gfx card and admit it . Go search the youtbe and see crysis muncher of tributar videos and you'll agree. Infact you also have the GTX260

Will the mobo and case I picked just not go together, Im considering the same motherboard but a different case, maybe an Antec p182 as its a super midi tower case, as I have limited space a smaller case may be better suited!

Thanks wise guys for all your help, Im picking different parts all the time from your suggestions, thanks for all the help!!

If you have limited space go for a midi tower - but you still don't want a Micro-ATX mobo in it - it really will limit you and you can get a P43 ATX for approx the same money if money was an issue.

Now would be a good idea for you to list the components that you like the look of and advise us on whether you're sticking with a socket 775 mobo or whether, by dropping the SSD, you're going to future proof your build with the i7. That way we can advise you more effectively.

As i mentioned before - remembering, that the spec you posted originally will run all games without breaking much of a sweat - if money is tight. (with a decent ATX mobo in it of course ;) - and with the SSD dropped you could upgrade to a 4890 which would see that spec bulldoze through games.)

Of course ATI can keep up if your talking about £/performance ratio. Nvidia has got the most powerful chip out but at a premium price. ATI however has a very capable chip in the form of the 4890 which is still blisteringly fast and for a hell of a lot less money. Even the 4870x2 has a great price now.

The price of the 4850 is crazy low now for such a fast chip. Both the Nvidia gts250 and ATI 4850 would be a great choice.

Complete rubbish. You're just another fanboy. And FYI, I'm playing with a Radeon 4890 right now :)

What does your sig show need an update man, Ati is rubbish I saw a video were the 4890 was compared to the GTX260. It's nonsense, of course it will be better the 4890 than the 260 but when compared to the GTX275 the Nvidia corner wins for sure at high resolutions

The 4890 is on par (5 frames less) with the 285 from most of the reviews I've been reading and it costs £100 more. At 2560x1600. Nvidia must love you. It's a no brainer where ATi are at.

ok then I changing the GT285 I going to buy with 4870x2 or 4890 crossfire

What? a few posts can change your mind that quickly. Were not saying ATI is superior to Nvidia, we were just showing you had your facts completely wrong.

Also you should maybe run a spell check over your posts.

Thanks for all your effort and time Im greatful.

I have decided to go for an i7 build main reason as Im going for a quad core anyway, I may aswell pay the bit more as it seems well worth it.

after a long think and a read through the threads on here I have picked these new components out, thanks to icey_haj for giving me ideas.

This is what I have, somewhat different to what I first came up with, LMK what you think.

No problem.

I think you have yourself a solid build for your budget, there.

By dropping the SSD you have future proofed your system and gained a very respectable spec for the money.

If you could stretch your budget you may want to consider a 600W - 650W psu - it would be a wiser investment for future upgrades. The OCZ you picked comes in a 600W version for only £7 more.
