What do you think could be wrong here?

Randomly when I turn on the PC it just sticks at the bios/mother board screen. I can restart it about 20 times before it comes to life and goes past this, sometimes I have to pull the power out of the PC for 5 mins and try and sometimes I have to pull out the cmos battery to get it to work.

From that what would you say is dying? Motherboard?

Have tried with stock CPU speeds and BIOS settings and also OC settings. It happens with both.

Don't rely on my advice 100% as i've not really done much with computers in years, but could be the PSU on the fizzle? Similar thing happened to me and that was the issue, make sure it's all seated properly? Also make sure the RAM is seated nice and snug

Not sure if this will help.

I fix PC's for a living and I've seen loads of PC's sticking on the bios screen because of faulty hard drives.

Check if the HDD light comes on and stays solid. Dead givaway.

You might want to try and reseat all power connections, memory and both ends of your hard drive sata cables.

It's unlikely, based on your description, but disconnect usb devices before booting up. I've known them cause similar symptoms. Won't harm to try anyway.

Thanks all, it worked fine last night so I didn't bother messing around with it.

Will try all what was said. Hope my SSD is not failing as they're expensive!

Good to hear - but if it does flare up again, i would say it's probably RAM. It could have re-seated itself as such and could play up again, just a tip :)

fingers crossed nothing else will happen though!

Ok sorry I've not updated this thread in a while, it carried on happening and happening so I reseated the ram and then it stopped happening happy days. Then I was creating a VM and noticed I could only allocate 2gb of ram which was half my ram? So I checked Windows and it could see 6GB but only 4GB was in use. So I turned my PC off re seated the ram and it wouldn't boot in to Windows... Tried all possible combinations and it still wouldn't boot. So I thought I'd try resseting my OC and once I done this I managed to get in to Windows and it was picking up my 6GB. Manually Overclocked my i7 to 4.2 again and it's been stable as anything. The temps are a little high again ( gone up about 10 deg ) but I'm happy as it's working and seems stable!
