Basically my astras getting on abit now in age (2000) and mileage (88k). The car is running fine and i was planning on selling it about this time next year anyways but obviously by that time the car will be older and worth next to nothing. (atm im only getting offered £1500) so what do you think I should do? Here are the options I think I have...

1/ Keep the astra and hope it holds out until this time next year and spend 8k on a new car.

2/ Buy a car within the next month (something like the MG ZS 180 ive seen in someone elses thread for 3.5kish) Then sell that on after a year or so...

Anyone else got an opinions or advice?

Your car is already worth nothing, keep it until you want to change it, there is no advantage in changing it now for the sake of residuals.

You'd get the ZS if you wanted more fun - so if you do then get it, if you see no point then keep it till it dies and spend money elsewhere.

Neither option will provide any return on investment. Change car becasue you want a better car or a change of scenery and can afford it, I wouldn't be bothered about residuals in this climate, given what you're driving already. With a car worth so much, it will be worth about the same in 12 months time I would say.

Well another reason im thinking about doing this is I finish my placement (in Surrey) in afew months time and the sheer amount of cars in this area compared to back home (Teesside) is ridiculous...Wondering if I should capatilise on the fact im down here with a massive selection of cars...
