Facebook has proved to become very popular. I much specific service than myspace and imo a lot better. It's based around universities so if you don't attend them unfortunately (thank god) you can't sign up. It's a very good way of browsing photos from the previous nights etc.

The true re-birth of the Web 2.0 portal - But one that is personalised for each user to the degree that it brings together your email, your to do list, birthdays and offers present thru various shopping sites, tesco shopping lists and allows you to place your order, car service dates and then offers up a list of garages for you to choose from, utility bill details, blogs or myspace so and so forth but accessed thru an app that can run on your mobile phone, laptop or home pc and still be up to date and accurate.
Basically the bringing togther of all your online stuff into a handy bite sized chunk that you can customise to your hearts content.

. But it could be doing so much more if the infrastructure was there. Amarok's implementation (and the majority of 'web-enabled' applications) is still very much in the simplistic scraping stage - post a search to the relevant website's form and return the resulting HTML page.

However, it's the changes in recent versions of Amarok - particularly last.fm integration, and the context browser improvements (except when they move it

) - that make me think we'll be seeing much more of this type of integration in the mainstream.

I don't have a problem with the networking sites really, as long as they're used properly.

I don't use any but a few of my mates do because it seems to work for them. Whenver they pull a bird in the town, there's been times that the girl uses a networkng site too and they've exchanged (usually faceparty) details and they've took it from there.

Pretty handy and innocient in that respect.

Easy question, spent a large amount of my time at uni looking at this and I would say 4th generation hypermedia.

Google for it, there are also a number of white papers on google scholar if you need referrences

I think a new Web based operating system will kick in and that may be the new thing. Storing all your files (porn) on webservers. So all your work is protected and accessable globally.
