I currently play my gmaes on:
AMD Athlon 64 Winchester 2.0Ghz at stock
HIS Excalibur ATI x800xl at stock
1GB GeIL Value RAM
160Gb Samsung HDD
DFI Lanparty NF4 Mobo

Yet, when I play these on near the highest settings...
X3: Reunion
Farcry
Call of Duty 2

...I feel like I want more power. I want to be able to play games like UT3 and Stalker at maximum levels.
Question i'm asking is, is it worth upgrading my current rig for more power? If so, what do you recommend?

Thats because to be honest, you NEED more power to run this at full everything.

A good cheap upgrade would be to a nVidia 7900 of some sort and another gb of ram. You can also pickup pretty good cpu's that would fit your mobo for around £50.

Though if you're wanting to play Stalker and UT3 at max, you're looking at a new rig with at least a 2.5ghz c2d (want to say 3, but you prob don't need that...and all via overclocking), 8800GTS & 2GB ram.

I think your rig was good 2 years ago.

Apart from Far Cry (which was ahead of it's time), those games all came out within the last 2 years, which is probably why they chug a bit.

To play games like UT3 well as mentioned you will probably need at least a gf8 and 2gig RAM. However, if you seriously want to be playing at true "maximum levels" then depending on what monitor you have, you are looking at 8800GTX-SLI at the bare minimum to be honest.

Unless you have a very low FPS threshold then I'd give up on the fantasy of playing high-brow games at MAX settings, as it's just not worth the expense.
