I am planning a new ivy bridge build and want to order this week:

Corsair 4x4 GB DDR3-1600 1.5v
Maximus V Formula Republic of Gamers
bitfenix collossus venom
Thermal paste mx-4
coolermaster hyper tx3 evo
intel core i5 3570k
Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 2TB 7200 RPM
LG BH10LS38 bluray writer
silverstone strider 850w modular psu
corsair k90 mechanical keyboard
logitech g9x MW3
(will buy gpu later as still unsure whether 670 or 680)

The total before tax is around £910 ish

Any improvements or suggestions welcome :)

Don't think you need a 850W power supply, only really need that for 3x sli. I would get a 750W PSU.
I would get a 670 or a 7970, I don't think the 680 is worth the extra money, unless you always have to have the best and upgrade every time new tech comes out.
Comparison
680 only gives a few % extra fps for a considerable amount more.
Do you really need to spend £250 on a motherboard? A £120 motherboard is probably good enough. I'm unsure of what your actually getting for the extra money.
16GB of memory is probably overkill for most things you could be doing, I would go 8GB for now and upgrade latter when more would actually be used.

Yeah i see what you mean with the power supply, but i might attach cold cathode and just didnt want to end up having to buy a new one. And yeah ill get the 670, but overclockers dont sell the asus duii top version? The mobo is a waste but i really like the look and might upgrade to watercooling in the future and use fusionthermo. Do you definately only need 8gb? its cheaper overall to buy 16gb now than 2x8gb sets?

I don't understand why attaching a cold cathode might require a bigger power supply. They only consume 3W of power.
No overclockers don't sell that version I would get the Gigabyte 670 Windforce 3X
I personally would save the money and get a cheaper mobo but its your money so spend it as you want :D
Yes 8GB is enough for general use / gaming, you could get 16GB now if you really wanted, but you won't use above 8GB .
