Hi guys, below is a spec i made up for my hopeful new gaming machine. Read some posts on this forum saying if going for gaming take C2D over a quad processor.

-Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB)

-Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

-Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

-Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail (AX-48701GBD5-H)

-Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD753LJ)

-Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM

-Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

-Antec 900-2 Nine Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU)

-Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU

-Akasa AK174CB-4BLB 120mm Blue LED Fan

Please tell me if you see any problems, or you'd change and improve anything, budget wise I'd like to get the machine, monitor, keyboard and mouse for no more than £1100.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

seems nice set up!
how much it will cost?

Asus motherboards one of the best, but if you never use CrossfireX, maybe you do not need mobo with 2xPCI-E?

Corsair PSU's on of the top, but now I understand that, better to spend more £££ on Modular, really good Psu which will last for a long time and will be enough for future upgrades, etc.

You havent listed an operating system?

I would go go for a xigmatek s1283 instead of the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro. It's about the same price and much better at cooling.

I just finsished a build with a p5q pro and it's a nice board had no probs with it( touch wood )

yeah the Asus mobo, don't go with them! anything but! trust me

What motherboard would you recommend?

The operating system I was going to choose was Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit, cool good to hear.

I HAVE VISTA ULTIMATE 64bit which I DO NOT NEED!
Also- I wouldn't go for 4870 power color for £190

I think it is a bit expencive, but good setup tho!

I have built mine for around £650

I envy and applaud you, how did you manage to build a machine (assuming your signiture is the machine you built for £650) including a GTX280 for £650, thats brilliant.
