Hope i am allowed to post the bay links, if not sorry about that, guess they will be deleted,

So just for messing about on for some practice how about this switch and router , can't really go wrong ?

DO NOT LINK TO THIS COMPANY

What do you want it for, practice for CCNA, or just for use at home?

2600's are pretty good practice routers but you might want to consider a model with a couple of more useful interfaces. Especially if it is for home use, one with Dual FE ports would be what you're after unless you have a specific WIC card you're going to use.

Likewise with the switch, if its just for extending your home network it will probably do you well, but for CCNA I would get an IOS based switch from the 2500 series or better.

What are you "messing about" for? CCNA practice? For anything cisco cert related you want 2900 series switches or higher and 2600 routers or higher with IOS 12.2 or better. 2600XM would be a good one, they're not too dear and usually ship with 12.3 IOS.

1900 series doesn't support all the stuff you'll need with regards to VLANs and trunking etc.

Though with the 4.0 CCNA syllabus they like using two Ethernet LANs in the labs :( Cheapest router that has dual Ethernet is a 2611XM which is £150 quid ish second hand.

It's fudgeable using secondary IPs on a single LAN interface but it requires thinking above the level the course is at :p
