Hello,
After some research and help in the motherboard section i have come up wit this spec.
Atm i running
AMD 3700
some msi m.b
1gb drr
Maxtor hardrive
Nothing that can really be reused so i am selling this going to become the 'family browsing computer which will be an improvement as that very very slow'

The budget could probably stretch to £550 but i would like to keep it low as possiable. I have a 19" but will upgrade that later later this year. Games wanting to play incl. BF2, CSS, Microsoft flight sim, Left for dead, new games in future
Also currently have
OCZ gameXstream 600w that is running atm (very quiet)
2x1GB of OCZ DRRII 6400 (5-5-5-12) memory
Have speced 320GB but will go for 500GB when there ETA

1. Is it best looking at e2200 and mobo?
2. Paying the extra to go for an e8400?
3. £20 more to go for a 4870 or the 1GB version 4850?
4. Recommended PSU cooler

Total :£457.62

Thanks:)

1. No. The E5200 is far superior and has double the cache. The E2200 should not even be considered now that they are both the same price.

2. The E8400 will most likely hit at least 4ghz. The E5200 will be anything between 3.2ghz and 3.75ghz. The E5200 varies a lot but 4Ghz with the E8400 is almost certain. Is it worth the extra £90? Probably not. What about a E7400/7500? The E7400 is'nt a bad buy at just under £106.

3. Not for a 19" monitor. Depends what you will be upgrading it to. >24" screen then a 4870 would be good.

4. Budget end Akasa AK-965. As good as the Freezer 7 pro but a lot cheaper. More than enough for a E5200 as well. E7000/8000 series cpu, Tuniq Tower, True or similar.

If going with the E5200 you could drop the mobo to one of the Gigabyte P43 boards. I left out the Asus P43 boards as the 24 pin connector is in a truly terrible position.

Thanks for the replies

I already have 2GB of OCZ ram as mentioned above so shall i just get another 2GB?

Was looking at Antec 300 is the cooling nice and is it easy to work with? Just really like the look of Lian li case.

E7400 is definately and option are they good at overclocking? What about AMD 6400??
Will be running 19" till at least October time so was thinking of upgrading g.c then?

For that price range what you spec
GPU
CPU
MOBO
2GB RAM
Hardrive
Case
DVD drive
??

could also save for cheaper p45/43 and cheaper ati 4850, still not going to be enough of a saving for a e8400 :(

anyway the case you will keep the longest so i wouldn't cut there, get one you like
