What do you think to my setup?

This certainly isn't a bragging post, my setup is quite a basic one but I'm wondering where I need to go next:

CPU - Celeron D @ 2.86Ghz
Memory - 1GB DDR2 RAM (533mhz I think)
Mobo - ECS Motherboard RS400A (Socket 775)
Graphics Card - Powercolor X800GT 256mb PCI-E
Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar 80Gb 8Mb Cache.

That's the main part of it. I think it's fairly obvious that I need to get a better CPU at a later date, but what's the best bang for the buck - Should I hold fire until Intel get their act together a bit?

Cheers,
James

if you are wanting to play games the Celeron chips are dire.

Best bet would be to stick a P4 in the motherboard, certainly cheapest upgrade. Or think about an A64 chip and motherboard but would be much pricier.

Graphics card is ok and should last for a while.

I do play games, but it's only really a bit of original Half Life Deathmatch and hopefully soon some HalfLife2.

Otherwise, it's just general use, for photos, some video editing etc.

Cheers,
James

I don't really want to move to AMD though, as I'd like to stick with my motherboard for now - It's LGA775 so I assume I'm (relatively) future-proof for a bit?

James

Not really, I'm relatively happy with it for now, but I was figuring on a CPU upgrade perhaps in a couple of month's time...

James
