I have been away from photography for a couple of year due to health problems but now that I've been given a new lease of life (literally) the old bug has been ignited. Doesn’t sound quite right that does it hmmm

Anyway I thought I would experiment a little and see what I could come up with. This portrait of wifey has had an obvious technique applied to it as well as some post processing in Elements. Can you spot the technique?

Don’t judge this shot too harshly I’m well in the amateur class but will like suggestions on how to improve this shot.

I’ve already noticed that the on camera flash is a little too harsh…

:)

Well she definately appears to be a mirror image from just below the eyes downwards. Infact judging from the light, i'd say the right hand side of the image is a mirror of the left?

Blimey you are so right or mostly right anyway. It is a mirror image with the right being the mirror, but how does the light give away which side is the mirror in that shot?

I'm impressed ;)

PS Anyone have any suggestions?

The light direction on the fringe would dictate that the right side should be in the shadows (or at least partially), however it isn't ;)

If you wanted to make the shot appear more realistic, you should edit the brightness of the right hand side of the face, where it would be shadowed from light to the direct left (ie next to the nose, or around the cheek towards the ear etc).
