I was out for a walk the other day and saw this chain. Liked the look of it so snapped it up. What does everyone (or anyone!) think of both the shot and the processing? What would you have done different, and please feel free to have a play.

Or is it just rubbish and pointless altogether! The more I look at it the more I'm starting to think that

I like it and maybe a tighter crop to the chain might work better, to me at least, to show off the dof on the chain as it goes into the background.

As i did similar shots myself recently and cropped right in on the chain to make it stand out more.

It's a good pic! I like the subject, but think could make it better by reducing the DOF a little, and make it a little more contrasty in PP. Also I think this kinda image needs to more strongly follow the rule of 2/3 to work really well...

So all your exams are finished now then? When are you coming back to the bay?

Dude, I like what you've done to it! I was going for the subtle approach, but looking at yours I can see it was wrong. Nice processing, will have a rethink when I am less tired

My exams are all over, hopefully I passed! Not sure when I'm back in the bay, wanted to go back last week, but never got round to it! Will probably go back around late june for a week or so, will keep you informed!

So...any more macros?

I only thing I don't like about it is how most of it is out of focus, makes my eye strain a little unless I'm looking at the rust.

Yaks shot is great!

Although, as has been pointed out, a tighter crop would have improved the picture!
