edit- I am building this for games. Hoping to run some of the big releases later this year with no problems (Battlefield 3)

Any reason not going for sandybridge?

They are a lot more expensive than the amd cpus... if you could spec me a system in this price range with a sandy bridge I'm more than open to it!

Thanks very much for the feedback I've learnt quite abit already. Gonna re-think my build and go for the i5 Sandybridge. If I get the cheaper Ram and Hardrive as suggested I might even have enough for a 60gb SSD on top of it all too. Cheers
