What do you use your mac for?

I use mine for everything apart from games. This includes stuff like browsing the internet, mail, listening to music, watching films/tv shows. I also use it for my digital vinyl system (torq) and for music production with logic. I also do the odd bit of uni work on it :D

Not a lot to start with... but now that I'm getting used to mac os x - I can't think of anything that I can't do on my mac!

I really like using adobe software on it and iWork is fantastic! Even so, I think I'll probably purchase office '08....

There's only games that I don't use my mac for and I've got a 360 for that!

If only there was a messenger client that would let me use my isight over msn!

Suggestions!?

Everything, 100% converted from being a home PC user!

I mainly bought it for photo and film editing, and because the 360 is so good and using up all my gaming time, besides a little HL2 and company of heroes, I don't miss the pc one bit!!!!

Watching movies for excessive masturbation.

And everything else :p, mainly photoshopping (a lot of very high rez stuff), general...well...yeah everything lol. Only boot into Windows to play 1 game :p

  • Browsing
  • Email
  • Calender / Scheduling / Synchronising with my phone
  • Listening to music (until I sort out my hi-fi again)
  • A bit of IM
  • Web Development
  • Windows Development (VMWare mainly)
  • Managing Finances
  • Writing
  • Recording & Composing music (though not as much as I'd like - need Logic Studio :))
  • Improving Linux skills
  • Civilisation 4 (via Boot Camp)

I think that's most major things :)

Can I ask what people use macs for that a PC can't do? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just curious.

There are many things a PC and Mac can both do - however it's all down to personal preferences to how you like your software (or what's available)

I prefer using OS X over Windows XP / Vista, just because of how intuitive it feels; To me and many proper agree - I say proper because many users just try it and then **** it off because it's not like windows when it obviously isn't. It's something completely different.

Expose / Space / iPhotos / iTunes / .mac - theses and many other features (and 3rd party apps), which works very well together with each other, gives it an overall better feeling than what I can get from Windows. So in simpler words - OS X > Windows IMHO. If I can run OS X legally / properly on a decent Windows system (or a better laptop than my MacBook per pricing) - I'd happily revert back to PC.

P/S it's not just about the GUI, the independence of Apps and System files is a plus for OS X than Windows.
