Not Seen one of these threads for a while now and with New Cards due speculated for next Year Thought it would be nice to put what you want from these cards. Nvidia or AMD

1. Beat My 570GTX 1.5GB by Considerable amount 40%+
2: Have 2GB/3GB+ option at launch
3: 2 Screens connected and run at lower clocks by default (not going to happen)
4: Good Driver support from day of launch
5: Decent Cooler with Big fan For the Reference cooler.

I know some of these can be fixed by Other Manufacturers but would like the next gen card week of launch :)

£150 card with performance around the GTX 570-580 range with 2 Gb ram.

Decent cooler, preferably MSI twinfrozr.

I buy a pair of those please :)

for nvidia

1. 2gb cards at least (for mid range cards)
2. 3 screen support from a single gpu card
3. mid range cards more powerful than a 580
4. good drivers
5. fullcover waterblocks at launch (not really nvidia, but ek or something)
6. up to quad sli from a mid range card

id like to see a higher polygon count but i guess thats down to tthe developers, but it would have some things to do with the card. im not so impressed with what 2011 has to offer, im not into that unlimited detail tech so much as i think its not practical to animate, but what the tech has done is make it so obvious now just how todays games are a bit shabby in places. effects and lighting in games is spectacular though ( metro 2033) and thats the thing that seems to eat card resources so id like to see them run lighting better. id love to see gfx like in the samaritan demo, it cant be hard to get near, they said they used 3x 580gtx, the 590 alone is nearly 2. Anyway id like to see more detail and lighting, but a little better physics and fog etc, id like to take a step forward now as this consoly plastic look has gone on for quite a while.

I think that's a bit over-optimistic on the pricing bit :D

I think it would be more around £180~£220 range, whereas cards like 6950/GTX560Ti price drop to £100~£150 range replaces the GTX460/GTX560/6850/5850/6870 range :p And card like 6870 will be rebranded as 7770 at sub £100 range (like how 5770 got rebranded to 6770 this gen), and GTX560 will be tweaked and rebranded as something like GTS650.

Yea, that will be the £180-£220 range :(

I'll try and skip it if its that much for that level of performance. I must develop some willpower and stop getting new GPUs all the time, just like I am resisting SB.

Skip all this lot, and wait for 16 nm CPUs and 22 nm GPUs I must!!!

Though I really would like some all black GPUs. Twinfrozrs are my favorites but silver, and Gainward Phantoms (570 and 580) were the most desirable looks to me.

I think most of us would be happy if the £180~£220 price range 28nm card would delivers same speed and performance as a GTX580, but with minimum of 2GB VRAM and lower power consumption...

But then GTX580 owners would be banging their heads against the wall repeatedly lol

Aside from what's already been said, I'd like to see the high end cards go back to having a higher build quality. Was really disappointed with the cheap looking plastic cooler that the ref 580 is in, and coupled with no backplate or SLI finger cover, it looks like something that fell out of a giant kinder egg. Certainly a far cry form the quality of the 200 series cards, and for well over £100 more at release.

:p

Thats why I dont buy high end cards. I'd rather just sell and upgrade in the mid range.

The GTX 560 already matched the performance of the GTX 480, which saw huge price cuts. I know that isnt nice for people who bought GTX 480s at full launch price, and it will be the same case with the GTX 580 and the next mid range too.

Basically a 580gtx < £300 and supports 3 monitors and has more than 2gb vram.

For ATI a 6970 for less than £150.

I want two of them to give me 120fps on highest settings. Not too much to ask really!

what id like to see.
shorter, quieter, cheaper, less power hungry, more powerfull cards.

what I exect to see.
NV.
considrably more powerful, a much mproved power managment hardware implementation, about the same size cards, more memory but not nessersarily 2GB, able to output to 3 monitors from a singe card, better scaleling from SLI than CF this time round. vapour chamber style coolers for quieter cards across the range.

what i expect to see.
ATI.
similar length cards, slightly less of an improvement performance wise than Nvidia but by no means slow. again 2GB on the high end, dedicated 3d mode/kit not left to 3rd parties, generally quieter cards, no dual bios switch, more use of display port connectors.

What about both companys make a dual gpu card that's passive, single slot and performs better than any card they own?

Bru why dont you want the dual bios switch? It saves people money being able to modify a 6950 to 6970 without risk or were you on about the switch on the 6990 that allowed for oc mode. I think that switch is a good thing not a bad thing either way.

For me i want a fast mid range card that can match this gens top end. I am done wasting money on top end cards.

A £150 card that has 2Gb Vram and can handle all the latest games at 60fps with all the candy on. Oh and it looks good, runs cool and has a cherry on top.:D

I didn't say I don't want the dual bios switch, I said I don't expect to see a dual bios switch this time round. although it was great for us as customers, I think it wasn't a smart move by AMD(must remember to call them AMD not ATI :)) as it stunted the sales of their 6970.

If they could make the GTX 580 about £180 that'd be grand.

We need the developers to start pushing the boundaries again I think. Anyone remember a little game called Crysis? I think that was the last time a single title pushed forward GPU development enough to move us away from the G92 rehashes and towards Fermi cards. The G80 was also a big leap for Nvidia. What's next?

Yeah you can argue about optimisation of Crysis (and how it still doesn't always run that great) but I think that visual quality took a jump forward that we haven't seen another of the same magnitude since.
