What do yous think of this NAS?

I am thinking of getting my first NAS. I have had a good look at this one and quite like it. Does anyone have any experience with this NAS or have any views on it.

I will just be using it for media storage(movies, music and general files etc).

I think you might be better off posting in the storage section, but I think you have chosen well, the Synology NAS boxes are very well rated, and I'm looking at the very same model you linked to. For light useage I think the J range should be fine, obviously if you intend it to be used heavily, or have any specific requirements (Plex) then you may need to look higher up the range.

I reckon if you're only looking to store some files and possibly some streaming then maybe it's a little more than you need.

I would suggest looking at the TonidoPlug2.
It's £90

It's wireless N and gigabit, very energy efficient, has room for a 2.5" internal drive and usbs for external storage.

However, if you are planning on having TBs of files or you want data backed up on a raid array then go for the box.

Thanks for the advice.

I have already a few TB drives full so was looking for bigger storage and possibly backups. Will also be streaming it around the house to media players.
