Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. What does a backplate do

Most don't help with heat dissipation as they don't rest on the pcb. Mainly hover over with a very small gap so blocks heat from escaping. You would be better off just having a fan blowing on the card without a backplate more heat would be dissipated. It's mainly for looks and strengthening the card. More looks than anything.
