only ever had one of those rockers for the floot, was okay, had the same model twice but one had speakers, not really ideal for at my desk, but other than style and whether or not they have a speaker system, what do they actually offer over a typical faux leather executive looking swivel office chairs?

at the moment im on one of those fold up metal chairs with a leather base and back that you can get from b&m etc, its fine for how often i use it, but can be uncomfortable after long periods so want a new chair, im just debating what is best.

i would like a seat with speakers, ideally ones compatible with xbox one as my monitor has no speakers and headsets drain the batteries reasonably quick, not so bothered for my pc as i have speaker system and going to MDF build a new desk with built in speakers, its just my xbox im thinking of for that stuff.

I honestly cannot see what these "gaming" chairs offer and why they are appealing in the slightest. How on earth is anyone supposed to know whats right for them just because Joe Bloggs says so.

I went to Staples and looked at all the office chairs there. There were around 30 chairs to choose from, ranging from £50 up to a staggering £600.

I sat on every single one of them and the one that was most comfortable for me was £169.99

I honestly think these gaming chairs are pure nonsense.

They are very similar in looks to recaro/sparco bucket seats for cars now having owned a pair in my old car on a long trip id rather have normal factory seats as they are often more comfortable so if they are genuinely like the car variants I don't think long gaming sessions would be too nice.

Edit: if anyone has a seat and done a serious session please let me know if I'm wrong

I think they are more for the 'looks' than anything and as such have the gamer tax added to what is probably a £39.99 chair at most.

Mostly terrible posture. The "wings" on the side tend to push your shoulders forward. Get some thing decent second hand like a steel leap.

The only good reason to get a gaming chair is if you want it to match your plastic racing car bed.

+10 fps and a k/d ration of 2.2

Honestly they add nothing that other chairs don't already offer but the industry fair play to them got people to believe you need a car bucket seat to be a gaming chair.

i bought extra large version so that the wings dont try to squeeze my back but the main reason for me is the stiffness of the cushion. My bony bottom flattens the cheapo staples chairs within 2 months. I did have to send the cushion back to germany after 6 months as I felt the bar but then they were very good in making sure that they replaced it with a much thicker foam. I have not had back pain since.

Unless you buy an expensive leather than wont sink or operator chairs then the base cushion would probably not last as long.

In terms of setting things up. I find this chair easier to set so that i am forced to have the best posture for my back.
