just seen the Fifa rankings, England are now third in the table, behind Germany and Spain.

How??

that was 4th, they are now third on the league table released today, what games have we played since then to warrant a third place ranking?

It's a rolling period isn't it?

So it's more than likely due to some older games dropping out of the ranking calculation this month.

Uruguays Copa America "points" have now either dropped off or been downgraded, dropped them to 4th and England upto 3rd.

As mentioned above....mickey mouse rankings. Clearly as inaccurate as they could be

Fifa can say what they want, the rest of the world know what teams are good. England shouldn't even be in the top 10 with their performance is the last two championships. QF matches should not count.

Spain
Germany
Italy
Brazil
Holland
Argentina
Portugal
Uraguay
France
Russia

Thats how I would rank the teams. England were worse than Chelsea in the CL at WC10 and Euro12.

You mean the 1-1 draw in which we went ahead?

It was such a close fought game. Neck and neck for 90 minutes.

Whilst I am all too aware of the quality of the england team, I think dropping qualification games would only distort the rankings even more, what with the euros just having finished. Before/During (i can't remember which) there were qualifiers for the wc in south america. A qualification format that is more difficult than a lot of tournaments imo. So if you then remove those games the South American teams would not rise and would probably drop lower, depending on results of course.

Also despite the football played by the england team, they did not lose a game in open play and would probably remain quite high up.

So you're judging it off a single match? You even said yourself "England shouldn't even be in the top 10 with their performances in the last two tournaments" yet you put France in your top 10 despite doing worse than us in the last two tournaments...

It makes perfect sense if people actually knew how the rankings were worked out. People forget that England win the vast majority of their games.
