Exactly what the title says really. I have updated my touch to the new firmware and all is cool. My only issue is the mapping system, it does not 'find me' I was even in London today where i thought that if anywhere then it will work there (wifi hotspots etc) but nope.

Anyone else got there's working?

My home ADSL: Scarily accurate. It narrows down to my street.
A friend's ADSL: Fails to find me.
GSM network: Mixed results. Sometimes it doesn't find me, other times it can narrow it down to about a square mile.

The thing is, apart from my home wifi, my friends back home have no wifi, there is no wifi at work and it seems almost every wifi spot i come across these days are encrypted (random people's ones, fair enough) or in town such as starbucks.

I've found a fair few Cloud spots on my travels, the first one you find you have to log in with your phone number, after that it'll connect to any Cloud hotspot.

Hiya, sorry for not posting back sooner.

Anyway, no my touch is not jailbroken, i actually paid for the update! Ah see i did not know that you had to add your location. I would have thought though that the hotspots in London like Waterloo etc would have been added?

How do i add my position then? I have been to the Skyhok website and it can see my postcode, but my wifi cannot pinpoint me.

There is one time authentication process to follow when you first visit a Cloud hotspot. Simply follow the steps below to complete this authentication.

  • Ensure you have a Wi-Fi connection. Check the upper left corner of the screen for the Wi-Fi symbol.
  • From the iPhone main menu page, select the 'Safari' icon which initiates a search for available Wi-Fi hotspots in your location.
  • If you are in coverage of a Cloud hotspot, you will be offered 'Wi-Fi Zone - The Cloud'. Select 'Wi-Fi Zone - The Cloud'
  • From Safari bookmarks, tap on a bookmark and this will take you to The Cloud iPhone home page.
  • Enter your Mobile Phone Number and select 'go'.
  • When Wi-Fi session is established, you will see 'welcome to The Cloud' and the session counter displays the session time. You can now begin your Wi-Fi browsing session!

Once you have completed these steps, your future use of Wi-Fi via The Cloud is seamless. All you will need to do is ensure you are in a Cloud hotspot and then start browsing, using You Tube or downloading a track from iTunes. It couldn't be easier.

There you go my friend. ;)

The free Cloud wifi access is for people on O2's iPhone tariffs. You'll have to sign up for a normal Cloud account to use it with your iPod Touch

Ah that makes me think, i have a feeling that i have some kinda free wifi connection thing with my bt account.....
