what does this mean?

I just purchased this motherboard here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?model=alivexfire-esata2

It currently has a 4400 x2 in it and I was looking for something a little faster. I was looking at at a AM2+ Phenom which is says it supports but it also says this on the page:

*If you use AM3 / AM2+ CPU on AM2 chipset motherboard, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0 (5200 MT/s) to HT1.0 (2000 MT/s), but the CPU frequency will not be influenced.

What does that mean? and how does it affect performance?
