I have just replaced my 7900GTX which was overclocked as much as it could take, sat on water with a DD maze block, never rise above 39.
My new 8800GTX with the retail cooler sat at stock speeds and idel its hittin the 80s but in the 2 hours i have had the temp monitor running its not dropped below 77 - 78.

yeah I wouldnt worry about the temps m8, mines @57-60 idle with a room temp of 22 atm and if i throw a game on it will go to 80ish

I had 65 idle / 89C load to start with then added an PCI air extractor under the card and two more 120mm fans. and now I get 52C idle and 72C Load.

So thats 4x 120mm/1x 80mm and air extractor/blower under the card itself. :)

It seems that, in Nvidia's case, ever since the 7950 series, the guidelines for "safe" temps have altered drastically.

I recently tested 2 8800gtxs in SLI and the upper most card never dropped below 73 degrees IDLE...this was in a Silverstone TJ09 case with the maximum 5 120mm fans fitted. Under load, it would often reach 85.

I wouldn't be worried friend.

Congratulations, what's it like living in a fridge?? ;)

It's all about air flow, some cases are better then others, my Lian Li PC-7 is pretty awful with just 2x120/1x80 reaching almost 90C, added a few more fans into the mix and locked fanspeed to 80% and its running 20C cooler idle and load. :)

actually...i was quite impressed by the 8800GTX full load temp myself coming from a 1900 XTX that hit 95 full load when gaming....thats was scary.

In saying that I still OC'd it and never...ever had any stability issues what so ever! I did bring the temps down on the XTX by installing an Accelero 2 cooler to mid 80's:)

Personnaly I think we wory to much about temeperatures....if its fully gaming stable then be happy!

wow thouse temp realy doesnt look good, i hope ATI will have better solution to keep there R600 @ better temps! :D
