have just upgraded to 64 bit cpu and my new board is now dual channel capable but am not sure what this means, as im looking to step to 2gig i would appreciate some advice on what i should be looking to bye

64bit kit can be intel or AMD. If this is an AMD board your looking for DDR 3200 or above. If intel your likely wanting DDR2.
As for the kit you get - your preference - tight timings or memory to work with a high FSB overclock, whichever meets your needs. If on a budget any of the DDR 3200 value kits will be fine (AMD)
Same for intel but DDR2.

Dual channel is where you have a matched pair of ram sticks, it essentially doubles the bandwith through which data is sent between the cpu/nb and the memory.

Gives uo to a 20% performance increase i think
