Hi,

i am looking into making a couple of mods to a Corsair 700d. I am lookng at cutting a side window and an area on the floor of the case to fit a 120.2 rad. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips towards making the process go smoothly. Im looking at using a dremel to do all my cutting, as i am borrowing it i need to buy some bits for the job. Can anybody advise me on which to buy?

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

Would advise to go for the larger sized heavy duty cutting discs, the ones reinforced with glass fibre. nothing wrong with the others as such it's just that with anything else you'll find yourself forever changing the disc.

do wear eye protection as the discs can have a habbit of breaking.

Practice on some scrap metal first as it's quite a skill to get a nice straight line

A DREMEL IS NOT A SAW! Use a dremel on low speed to make the initial hole, then use a jigsaw on a low speed to cut the panel.

For the best finish, I'd get a professional to do it who has access to the proper tools...

Especially on a 700D.

if you want to do it neatly, it will take some patience - mark up where you are cutting to with a pencil, then cut about 1mm inside that. Then, use a file (a hand file, not a dremel attachment) to smooth the edges all the way to the lines you marked. As G-Dubs says, practice a bit first on some scrap, to get a feel for the tools.

Hi,

Thankyou all for the tips. Im starting to have second thoughts about doing this myself. Ill probably look into getting it laser cut. I plan on keeping the case for a while and have a feeling ill regret trying to do it myself.

Thanks again,

Phil.

haha well then ill have to look for a professional case modder. I agree, i dont like the window on the 800D. So i have bought 2 way mirror for a custom window.

Awesome build ~TB~ and if my window turned out like that i would be very happy.

Phil.
