I am building a system very soon. I will want to overclock it in a nearly future and i would like to choose the right CPU.

The motherboard will probably be an Asus P5E
Memory: geil PC2-6400 800Mhz...
I have no idea of overclocking. I dont want to do any extreme overclocking just something decent and average (in the good sense)

I want a cheap "short term" chip. The options are simple:

e2140
e2160
e2180

Which one should i choose?

e2180 has a 10x multiplier making 3ghz+ very easy. get an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) along with it to help with temps. if your overclock goes vey well, this might end up as a long term chip.

I just put together a new system and got my E2140 to 3.2 no problem, the cooler keeps it at 58 under TAT load, bits are in my sig;)

CPU as in sig. Still can't believe the performance for £50 odd quid.

I finally ordered the whole system with a e2180 since it wasn't really much more expensive and i can enjoy the first days at good stock speed. Thanks everyone.
