Hi guys...

I'm looking for a decent earphones, next up from the CX300 (which was recommended to many over a year ago...)

I've looked at the CrossRoads MylarOne X3 Earphone, which is relatively priced and reviewers are raving about them. Shame they're out of stock for the next 2 to 3 weeks...

so in the mean time, I've been looking around.

I saw some online stall selling the Shure E2c for under £30, have read reviews for it and again, much recommended - a good entry into the Shure series... The Shure E3c is abit too expensive for me. Anyway, one thing that worries me is the E2c is wired from behind and I wear glasses - anyone have experience with it?

What other earphones will be a good one to look into?

I'll be using it with an iPod and the range of music I'll be listening to varies from Alt, metal, rock, indie to Classicals, melodic jazz and soothing vocals like Immogen Heap.

Thanks.

The MylarOne XBs are generally considered a good upgrade to the CX300s mainly due to the bass representation (seeing as the CX300s are known for their bassy nature).

The headfi forums are a great place to get opinions on stuff like this.

I love my XBs.

Sony EX90 with the mods listed on Head-Fi.org, they are £50 though so it depends on your budget. The EX85 are £30 and are the same drivers.

Paying £50 I don't mind but having to go thru the trouble to get it good, it's not worth it IMO - because I'm a lazy bugger.

My limits can be stretched but not beyond £70 because that's just OTT for a portable player...

I've seen the V Moda earphones, looks cool and reviews seem positive, anyone with personal experience with it?

Etymotic . . . get 10/10 from me . . .

if you can get over the in the ear canal experience - fantastic sound quality - I have ER4-P's.

Highly recommended IMHO!

After checking Etymotics ER4-P's (too expensive and seemly as fragile as the ER6i) - The ER6i is not making the list due to many reviews of weaker bass compared to the CX300 and I'm no bass head but if I rather not adjust the bass in EQ - playing it Flat like what the album was intended for...

I have however found the Ultimate Ears metro.fi 2 earphones and have placed an order - as it seems to be a suitable upgrade froma CX300 without the need to wear the earphones from behind the ear (or like the other UE models, where it sticks out like Frankenstein's nails)

Will review it in comparison to the CX300 by this weekend (after some delivery and burning in)

Thanks for your suggession guys, they will stay in mind when my budget increases (with more high end portable player)
