What else can i try to get rid of all the crap on my PC?

My brother has ended up getting a load of rubbish on my pc that has made the internet ridiculously slow. I have tried various pices of software but they don't find anythig. This is what i have used:
Malwarebytes
Avira Antivir
Spybot
CCleaner

Is there anything else you guys could recommend? If not i might just reformat, it would have been a lot less hastle to of done that in the first place tbh!

Run taskmanager and show all processes.

Work your way through the list!

I always google to find out what it is and then decide on removal or not.

Format is usually quicker and easier and more effective. If you want to save time then do that, otherwise try the various scans in safe mode or, even better, completely offline with a live cd (Avira for example) and see what they turn up.

That, plus autoruns, will get rid of unwanted processes. But if the machine is riddled with malware then I wouldn't trust what taskmanager tells you.

Reformat if you don't know what addon's he has installed.
It might be slow, but it is probably addon's if no malware has been detected.

You may well have purged any spyware from the system, but as you've noticed, that doesn't mean that all the crap has been removed.

I'd go through the installed programs list in Control Panel, any startup items, and addons to things like your internet browsers. After that you're probably into the diminishing returns market, and I'd second the suggestion of a format.

Thanks for all the advice guys, you're all too help full

The general consensus is reformat, which i know usually is quicker. All i have to do now is find my Windows Discs!
