What else smells like urine?

Hate to ask..but i will.

What else smells similar to urine? Anything in the house i mean...gas, dodge electrics?? We have a funny smell going up our stairs and can't find out what it is...but it is horrible.

u could have sprung a leak somewhere in the house?
any pets?
missing the toilet and its going all over the carpet ;)
 
Ammonia? I don't know of any other substance related to pee.

Have you considered that it could actually be, urine?
 
Ammonia smells a bit like it, some household cleaning fluids contain ammonia so check for a spillage. Also, is it possible a cat could have got into your house? Cat urine stinks.
 
No pets.

It's weird; we can only smell it coming up the stairs. Under the stairs is a storage cupboard/food cupboard...going in there can't smell a thing. Only started today and we're pretty certain a cat hasn't got in.
 
Hmmmm, looks like urine for a wee bit of trouble...

Burning plastic? Some plastics give of a weey smell. Look for melting wires etc.

Perhaps a cat did get in, not neccesarily today. If it peed on something that gets warm a while back, i.e. a radiator, and you've only just put the heating on, that will bring the smell out.
