What Emoticon / Smiley Face app for iPhone?

Hi, been using a iPhone 3GS for a few days now and people send me text's etc with various icons, smiley faces etc.

My iPhone does not seem to have them. I have to manually make them if you will.

What 'app' is recommended please for 3GS.
