what EU shoe size am i?

just about to order some Nike Air Whistlers and i see they're list as 40,41,42,43,44,45 etc sizes. i'm usually a size 9-UK so what would that be in EU size? also what are EU sizes measured in? mm?cm?

[EDIT:]Turns out I don't know my shoe sizes as well as I thought I did.

thanks, so german size is the same as uk size? 9=43?

8 is a 42, 9 is a 43, 10 is a 44, etc, etc.
