Hi all, Gonna get rid of my pug 307 2.0HDI (110bhp) as it is only 4 years old and is already costing me a lot in failed parts, I am looking at getting a Ford Focus but not sure what one to get, I want the same sort of performance as my pug, I am interested in either the Focus 1.6TDCI (sport) or a 1.8TDCI, Both have good reviews and seem reliable but which one shall i go for?

The car is used mostly around town with once a month going to South Devon to see the inlaws and norfolk to see my parents, basically i want good performance with good all round fuel consumption.

What do you think would be suitable, Also anyone know what actually makes the Focus 1.6 TDCI sport differ from the none sport?

Thanks

Mostly around town? How many miles a year roughly?

If you’re doing well under 20k your going to have better savings with petrol, it's cheaper to buy, cheaper to service and cheaper to fill up. With diesel supply and demand issue the price will not stop going up for the foreseeable future, so the miles needed to travel for diesel to be cheaper increases.

Is it also from new?

cheaper to service?

oh and get a 2.0 petrol.

I think i'm right in saying the 1.6TDCi is a newer and more refined engine than the 1.8. You'd be better off with the 2.0TDCi though.
