Hi all,

I have forgotten the name of the remote assistance software I have used in the past.

I think it started with a S and required the client to be installed on the other PC and was maybe Open Source?

Any ideas?

For a local network using 2000/XP use Real VNC (Free Version) - TightVNC and UltraVNC are good, also. VNC'ing to a Vista machine is poor.

Over the internet you can either use...

- LogMeIn Free - create account, download .exe and install the program. Can connect whenever, without a user being present at the machine

- Teamviewer - really lightweight and multi-platform. You just need the remote user to give you their ID/Password which is randomly generated by teamviewer.

or have it permanantly installed so you can log in with the same number and password

Ah, that'll be why - I never install, I just 'run' it as I only ever use their QuickSupport feature for a QuickFix if someone rings me.

Still prefer LogMeIn though, you can use the browser.
