What game for my bro's birthday?

Hey all,

I haven't gamed in nearly 2 years now, so left the market long ago. However, the time has come to get one for my bro's birthday, so some voting on which you think is best is in order!

I have a vague list, but even though I'm no expert, I'm pretty sure it's rather ignorant of many of the newer good games, so feel free to spec those not on the list!


Splinter Cell:Pandora Tomorrow
Halo 2
Company of Heroes
Lost Planet

and a few others I saw after a quick look:

C&C 3
Bioshock
Stalker
Fear(?)

Hi Peter,

What spec is your bro's pc? I would say the best game there is bioshock. Bioshock, stalker and Lost Planet will all require a hefty PC to run well. Company of heroes is also a superb game and C&C 3 isnt bad either. But if he has a powerful enough PC i say get him Bioshock its the Biggest Game on the PC since Half Life 2 IMHO :)

SC:PT is pretty old now and in fact was given away with my graphics cards so you can probably pick it up on the cheap. It is supposedly one of the worst of the series (made by a different studio to SC and SC:CT) and while I have completed it, I didn't think it was anything special.
 
I think the choice of game heavily depends on the quality of your bro's system, age and personal likes but these are the games I tend to play the most when I'm not wasting time in an mmo.

FPS - Stalker
RTS/Wargame - Medieval Total War II
Driving - DiRT

Bioshock has certainly been the most hyped game of the year and after playing it I agree with what Edge wrote about it in their review. Fun for a week though I guess.

Personally I'd go for a safer option. Something like a gaming headset, a new mouse/keyboard or a pc xbox360 gamepad.

Or maybe just cash, that's always welcome or gift vouchers at a pc game shop.
 
BIOSHOCK without hesitation marvelous game if not as evolutionary as thought was going to be the atmosphere and graphics are breathtaking.
