What game 'hooked' you the most?

Doom 95
C&C
C&C Red Alert
Star Trek: Birth of The Federation
Final Fantasy 7
The Baldurs Gate Series
The Icewind Dale Series
Neverwinter Nights
Counter-Strike from beta 4 through to version 1 or so ...then I started to lose interest and stopped playing completely before source even launched.
Eve and this has really been the only game to hook me since early 2004 or so.

The only ones from that list that I still play today are of course Eve and Star Trek: BOTF which I play multiplayer with a friend who’s also hooked by perhaps the buggiest game ever made but also the only game to truly capture the essence of Star Trek for me.

For hours spent playing though, Eve has got to be waaaaaay out infront, then CS.

Has to be Baldurs Gate series, then of course the Command and Conquer games more the first one tho the others weren't as good. Generals doesnt count as a C&C game.

Started with Neocron, then became hopelessy addicted to Eve Online. 3 years later the EVE Online addiction is fading but I'm really enjoying World of Warcraft

A MUD called Elephunt Mud (or EleMud) nearly cost me my degree as i spent too much time on it rather than studying.

Other than that probably the Civ series took most of my time.

on my BBC Model B, ahh, happy days.

Yep, same here. On a C64. Though it did have to compete with Sid Meiers' (sp?) Pirates! on the C64 as well. I remember playing one night and suddenly realising it was 7am. Must have been 1984-5?

Makes me feel oooooooollllllllllllllddddddddddd when everyone else is talking about Half Life - that was only yesterday!

Otherwise

Populous
Baldur's Gate series
Civilization (from 1 onwards)
GTA Vice City - San Andreas is just too big and being a gang-banger is just grim
The Total War series

Unreal Tournament
Legend of Mir
Unreal Tournament 2003
Call of Duty
Legend of Mir
World of Warcraft

Pretty much in that order. (Yes Legend of Mir on different occasions.)

Battlefield 1942 for me - Played it from release til about 2 months before the release of BF:V for at least 2 hours a day. Still a great game.

Second was Eve Online (My first MMORPG). Played with a great bunch of guys for a good 18 months and then left for a bit but slowly getting back into it.

i cant believe no one has said diablo 2 yet that game had me consumed for years,

From pretty much month of release till the world of warcraft was released but i miss it :(

Has to be Elite for me, then Elite II, played many games since but never really with the same intensity, then along came freelancer, which was great until you complete it.

Multiplayer FPS wise, obviously half-life, but more specifically what has got to be the best mod ever - Natural Selection, such an awesome game. DOD did a pretty good job of ruining my life, but Natural Selection was the HL mod of choice, still playing now but it feeling old with the likes of BF2 and Source taking up a huge portion of my time.

SWG for me mostly, 1 year of my life...gone, im glad ive quit though, A-levels this year and really need to stop distracting myself from the work needed to get it right

Not played for ages ever since my clan died (TOR) at the end 2003 the more they updated it the less i loved it :( 2.0 - 2.2 were my favourite times for tac ops closely followed by the rough and ready 1.6 :)
still amazes me though that it has a fairly strong following still

wow, TOR. I still see "IOB" around. I agree, 2.x was great, but I still like 3.5 and hopefully 3.5.5 (soon to be) will bring back an older feel.
