just wondering what first person i should pick up tomorrow?

i enjoyed HL2 like so many others, Doom3 i never completed same with CoD2 and F.E.A.R. i played BF2 demo for a while and really enjoyed that. i was thinking maybe Quake4 or BF2?

any ideas welcome.

cheers,
naffa

Note that Battlefield 2 is pretty much an online only game, I'm guessing you're going for single player FPS games.

Quake 4 is a pretty reasonable FPS game, quite basic, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I did FEAR.

thats promising, as i got really bored with F.E.A.R :( and although single player would be nice (and is my main importance) i could sacrifice it, if the multiplayer experience was really good.

Well, there are demos of both Quake 4 and BF2 out there, so you can try both before you buy anyway.

You could be different and go for a non-fps game, but don't really know what you like. Have a go at the Fahrenheit demo if you want a cinematic / adventure game.

I'd really urge you towards BF2. I have Quake 4 and it's more of the same old FPS. Scince I got my PC nothing really got me hooked apart from HL2, PoP:TT and Far Cry but when I got BF2 the last week I was hooked. I've played it for over 50 hours so far and it's been the only game that's had me playing for hours on end.

This obviously is no use if you don't want a multiplayer game though but Quake is too much like Doom 3 for me and if you didn't like Doom 3 I'm not sure you'll like Quake 4.

Hell yes! I paid £15 second hand although It was as new. It'll be the best £16 you've spent!!!

....Jumping the thread :)
I have BF2 (which I recommend you get), went back to playing after not touching it for a few months.
Found only a few servers - is this becase my game is now an older version? There doesn't seem to be an auto-update & the EA site has different types of updates..which do I need? Thanks.

Quake IV was pretty good when I played through it recently, it didn't take all that long and isn't exactly reliant on brain-power but for a decent blast it seemed ok.

can be had for £12.99 on the net saw it in game today £24.99

i'd go with Quake 4 as already stated can be found for 12.99 free deliv on the net. I wouldnt compare it too much to Doom 3, i completred Doom 3 and got half way through Doom 3 Ressurection b4 getting bored of it (will get baack to it one day soon as it is good) but quake 4 is more action packed and has wider more open spaces, plus you often fight as a unit. The gfx are stunning and more colourful than Doom, and the storyline and cinematic effetcs in quake 4 are vey enjoyable. Was my fave game of 2005. So yup go for that, and I too preffered Quake 4 over FEAR, which was also vert good, but that was too samey all the way through.

just picked up Battlefield 2 for £30. got £20 part-ex with X3 and had a tenner in the piggy bank ;) heard nothing but good things, so i cant wait :D
