So I've got the money to get a new PC game tomorrow for my new build (check my sig). I'm stuck between: The Sims 3 or World of Warcraft. Now you see I was quite set on buying The Sims 3, but then my friends started raving about WoW. I've heard of it before, of course I have, but after three years of Runescape (I know, not good), I decided I should detour from the MMORPG's. But After my friends blessing, I gave the game a second look and decided to educate myself about it with a few videos and reviews. Now I'm stuck. I did that TryWarcraft.com thing, and got bored in about a minute as it reminded me too much of Runescape (bad memories), but my friend just said "yes, the beginning is boring, but when you play, it's the best". Is this true? What do you guys think I should go for? Or are there any other games I'm overlooking that I should go for? I want a game that isn't a 'play once and throw away'. Something ongoing is what tickles my fancy.

After having spent all the money on a nice new PC like that, you really should get something that will tax it a little more than the Sims or WoW.

It also doesn't sound like WoW is the game for you from what you said, what type of thing are you looking for? You could try an FPS like Crysis or an RTS like Empire: Total war with the rig you've got..

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not really looking to specifically test my rig, just a game that I will enjoy and won't be over in a few days. I play COD4 or COD: WaW as my FPS, I just want something that's a little less intense, but still has a competitive and enjoyable edge to it. I know competitive doesn't really relate to The Sims 3, but I have grown to love The Sims series as I have been brought up with it. I should have mentioned I've got (completed) Crysis, so that's out of the question, and I didnt find Fallout 3 that impressive when I played it on the PS3. So basically, any game which is fun and competitive, and will not be completed in a few days.

Yea i just got Dawn of War 2, when the multiplayer demo came out i thought it was crap, but then i seen it for £15 and thought, might aswell buy it and see how i go, and man am i glad i bought it !! fricking awesome game!
